Riley Ellwanger

Software Engineer

As a software engineer on the Sentinel Fertigation team, Riley supports farmers by facilitating improved efficiency and improving the bottom line of their farms while helping them conserve water resources to protect the wildlife he loves.

Riley grew up on farms and ranches in both Superior and Butte, Nebraska. He’s been hunting and fishing for as long as he can remember and that’s still the way he enjoys spending free time.

It was his love for the outdoors that led Riley to the University of Lincoln – Nebraska where he initially majored in Fisheries & Wildlife Management with plans to attend graduate school and become a wildlife biologist. But after interning with the Nebraska Cooperative Republican-Platte Enhancement project, a 19,500-acre grassland restoration and groundwater management project, Riley became interested in using technology and software to drive innovation in agriculture and natural resource management.

Riley graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in the spring of 2022.

During his collegiate career, he interned for Crete Carrier Corporation where he gained experience developing web applications. For his senior design project, Riley worked with a team of peers to build a cloud-based database and web application for a cattle research laboratory in western Nebraska.

Those experiences, combined with an interest in agriculture, natural resources, and tech, made Sentinel Fertigation the perfect place for him to make an impact.
