Position Overview

As a Software Engineering Intern at Sentinel Fertigation you will contribute on both our Development and Innovation teams to product enhancement and research efforts designed to improve our N-Time™ platform. Creativity, critical thinking, and technical acumen will be critical for succeeding in this position. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the identification and development of new features and enhancement of existing features

  • Fix production bugs in a timely manner

  • Perform and write automated QA/QC tests

  • Coerce AI-ready datasets from Sentinel Fertigation’s internal data, archives from Sentinel Fertigation’s image providers, and external data from research collaborators

  • Engineer data pipelines that enable value delivery to the customer and continuous AI implementation

  • Support data scientists in developing new algorithms, improving algorithm efficiency, and integrating models into continuous implementation.

Qualifications

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior studying computer science, software engineering, agricultural engineering, or other related technical discipline.

  • Strong verbal communication, written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Dedicated learner capable of quickly digesting new concepts and technologies

  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, HTML, SQL

  • Experience with Angular, Django (geoDjango), REST, PostgreSQL, Docker, PostGIS strongly preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Azure, DevOps, VS Code, etc.) strongly preferred

  • Experience with open-source Python/Python-API AI and CV libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, OpenCV, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn) preferred

  • Experience with geospatial data preferred

  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit who is passionate about our mission.

  • Diligence in learning and leveraging team and project management software in Microsoft Suite (Teams, OneNote, OneDrive, Planner, etc.)

  • Strong organizational capabilities

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Compensation, Benefits, & Schedule

  • Salary: $10,000 total delivered biweekly in equal increments

  • Duration: May 2023 – August 2023 (flexible with school dates)

  • Location: Nebraska (preferred) or remote

  • Schedule: Flexible hours – it’s about getting the job done

Founded in 2021, Sentinel Fertigation is a Lincoln, NE, ag tech startup revolutionizing fertigation management. Through the N-Time™ Fertigation Management System (N-Time™ FMS) platform. Sentinel turns images of the crop canopy into fertigation recommendations that increase nitrogen fertilizer use efficiency. Increased efficiency means an improved bottom line for farm operations and reduced risk of nitrogen loss to the environment. The technology behind Sentinel’s N-Time™ FMS platform was developed at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and was tested through on-farm research trials with cooperating farmers in Nebraska.
